This is a long-term project with specific deadlines that begins after Spring Break. It is incredibly important that students stay on track with each of the due dates along the way. We will provide a state report schedule.

It is also very important that students keep their materials organized throughout this project. It is our suggestion that each student have a 1/2” – 1” notebook (separate from their school notebook) that they can begin to keep their materials, notes, and writing within. This allows the students to rearrange and reorganize their materials easily throughout the project.

Students will be provided with a state report gradesheet, state report components, schedule, and bibliography form. It is our expectation that the majority of the work for this project will be done at school because the research materials will remain at school. However, students may need to occasionally finish certain components at home as a part of their nightly homework. Those students who choose to type their final draft will need to do so at home. For those students who choose to do additional research at home, it is important that they document this resource in order to include it on their bibliography.

The culminating event for this project will be a “State Fair.” At this “State Fair,” the students will be presenting their report, will be in state “dress,” and will have an opportunity to share their projects. Prior to the “State Fair” we will send home a letter notifying families of the dates. It is our hope that all students will be able to attend this exciting event.

Thank you for your continued support and interest in your student’s education. We are sure that the students will find this to be a rewarding and fascinating experience!
