Dear Families, June 13, 2011
This is my final letter of the year. I have to pinch myself to believe is true! That said, here is the week at hand:
Monday: Daily routines, including completion of the tide pool critter report.
Tuesday: Field day runs from 12:30 to 2:30, followed by a celebration of summer birthdays. Have your kiddo dressed for athletic endeavors.
Wednesday: At an author’s party in the morning, each child will share a second piece of published writing. I will attempt a short force and motion study in the PM.
Thursday: More on force and motion, with end-of-the-day pack up of all materials in our desk to go home. If you have scrub brushes send them in.
Friday: Half-day, early dismissal (11:45), with awards assembly at 9:00.
Today’s packet contains the results of the year-end DIBELS and MAPS math and reading results. Please study them and contact me if you have questions. A supply list for fourth grade is enclosed.
Report cards are mailed June 27th, with fourth grade placements included.
Your job this summer is to maintain their “read-to-self”time. They know term and they like it. Call me if you need books. 360-661-3762. I am passionate about this. It is essential. And, they should read at their comfort level. Easy reading is better than reading at which they struggle. Trust me on this one.
What an honor it has been to work with you and your child. I couldn’t have selected a better group if I had handpicked them! Their kindness, humor, work ethic and acceptance of me have made for a very rewarding year as a teacher. They have a permanent place in my heart reserved for sweetie-pies.
Take care,
-
