Conway School District Refinances Bonds - Taxypayers Save

Conway School District at the June 20, 2011 Board meeting voted to refinance outstanding bonds in order to take advantage of lower interest rates.  The recent refinancing will save the District's taxpayers through reduced tax levies and are not available for District expenses.

Conway School Board accomplished these savings by approving the issurance of $1,080,000 in refunding bonds at its regular June meeting.  The District has been monitoring bond market conditions over the past year and recent low interest rates allowed the District to actually exceed their savings target.  Interest rates averaged 1.26% on the new bonds compared to 4.80% on the old debt.  The Board is continuously committed to being prudent financial stewards of the District finances and this is one more on-going example of their oversight.
